Territory of Cogoleto:

An ancient seaside village of fishermen, sailors and navigators Cogoleto today is a seaside resort. Some time ago it was also the site of chemical, iron and steel industries but now its only industry is tourism.

According to local tradition , sustained by some historians, Christopher Columbus was born in Cogoleto. What is said to have been his house is open to the public.

Noteworthy is the church of San Sebastiano built by the inhabitants of Cogoleto in gratitude to the saint for having saved the village from a serious pestilence.

Sciarborasca is an ancient rural building which is the seat of the Farmer's Museum exhibiting many objects and tools for farming.

Sports in Cogoleto:

The following sports centres are part of the municipality territory:

Athletics Sports Ground "Marco Pala" (250 mt).

Polivalent cultural-sports centre "Giuseppe Damonte" and the "Bruno Berellini" auditorium with volleyball and basketball courts and a gym where you can also practise martial arts.

In the Molinetto area there is a rugby field , a synthetic football field, a tennis court and stables.

There are also two boules/petanque grounds and a five-aside synthetic football field.

"Sant'Anna" golf course between Lerca and Sciarborasca.

In the Bonaparte district, above via della Madonnina there are plans for the building of two football grounds with changing rooms, sauna and wellness centre .

The cycling path (Cogoleto - Varazze) - ideal for all ages also on foot: It goes west from Cogoleto towards Varazze. The trail allows you to admire the rocky areas of the Mediteranean Scrub.
