The town is divided into two parts: Taggia, the historic centre, situated in the nearby hinterland in the Argentina valley, and Arma, a seaside resort. The two parts of the town are linked by the area called Levà( from the roman language meaning higher ground).

The township territory is vast, because it overlaps with the low valley where the Argentina stream meets that of the Oxentina and then down to the sea. This spacious area of hinterland is characterized by intensive farming -above all olive groves-on the hill belts and in the extended woods in the mountain area going up to Monte Faudo, the highest peak of the district with its 1149 metres.

Also noteworthy is the Shrine of the Madonna of Miracles or the Basilica of Saints Giacomo and Filippo, 1675-1681,in the historic centre. The Temple rises from the site of the ancient late middle ages church of the XV century, from which several works of art were moved to the new Basilica in 1675. The relics of their fellow citizen, Saint Benedetto, are held inside the interior which is furnished by fourteen side chapels. Other important works of art by Luca e Giovanni Cambiasio, Francesco Brea, Bartolomeo Pincellotti, Giuseppe Massa, Domenico Guidobono are also preserved here. In 1855 a Mariana statue by the sculpture Salvatore Revelli and dedicated to Mary the Immaculate Heart is said to have moved its eyes: after regular proceedings of the matter a miracle was declared by the catholic church.

The Feast of San Benedetto Revelli: I Furgari, the second Saturday of February, large bonfires, firework displays and music and wine all liven up the squares and alleys. The first edition of this Feast was 12 February 1626: the tablesi (people from Taggia) of the historic centre celebrated Benedetto Revelli who they had trusted to save the town during the 30 years war. In the last week of February there is a great historic commemoration(with a procession and plays), among the most evocative of Liguria, which tells about the origin of the feast and some moments of life in the seventeenth-century

• National Award of “Ossi di seppia”, a national competition of original poetry and literature run by the town hall .The award ceremony is on the first Sunday of December in Villa Boselli. The section dedicated to poetry is at its sixteenth edition while that of literature at its second. Registration for the award is free of taxes and expenses of any kind.
