Pigna , a village of 896 inhabitants which was honoured with the Touring Club Orange Flag in 2009. Comprising the community of Buggio, it is situated on the mountain side of Val Nervia. It is about 62 kms from the chief town and is crossed by the Nervia stream from nort-east to south-east at an altitude of about 200-300 metres above sea level.
The church of Saint Michael the Archangel is a religious building located in Piazza XX settembre in the historic centre of Pigna ; it is formed inside by three aisles divided into two rows of round and octagonal columns. Behind the main altar is the famous 1500 polyptych by the artist Giovanni Canavesio including thirty-six framed units of a wooden building gilded in renaissance style.

The"Raviolata di San Tiberio" (Ravioli of San Tiberio) which is held every year on 10 October. This culinary event brings back an ancient tradition during the period of the saracene raids along the ligurian coast, they tried again and again to invade the village of Pigna, and it was during one of these sieges that the Pignaschi (people of Pigna) decided to collect all the oil they had in large containers which they heated and then poured over the invaders who then beat a final retreat and never again attempted to invade the village. The inhabitants of Pigna so decided to celebrate their victory by a great feast of their typical dish, ravioli, but as they had no more oil to season it with,they ate it with pecorino cheese.This recurring event is on 10 October, every year, the ancient day when the patron Saint Tiberio was celebrated and whose name was given to the feast.
