Composed of the municipalities of Albisola Marina e Albisola Superiore, the built up area of the Albisole was one of the most important stations of via Giulia Augusta, and the first historic centre was built up on the fertile plains furrowed out from the Sansobbia stream.
The land of pottery, the local artistic production boasts a tradition of more than 500 years. Fashion houses, exhibitions, events amd manufacture : in the workshops it is possible to see the different phases of production, in spring the International Festival of Maiolica is organized and the historic centre hosts the Manilo Trucco Museum of Pottery.
Defined by Marinetti “The Free Republic of Art", Albissola Marina is famous for the Artist's promenade a mosaic paving 800 mts long and created in the sixties thanks to a score of artists as Lucio Fontana e Giuseppe Capogrossi.
Not to be missed is the Museum House Villa Jorn, dwelling of the danish artist where his works are preserved and Villa Faraggiana, a 1700s luxurious gentry dwelling amidst the gardens and fountains decorated in blue and white majolica.
