Montalto Ligure is a village of 364 inhabitants in the province of Imperia.
The church of St John the Baptist is a religious building located in via Ludovico Brea in the historic centre of Montalto Ligure.The primitive structure with its three aisles was completely converted in the XVIII century into a single chamber with six side altars; in the same period the constuction of an adjoining belfry was added.
Inside are preserved famous works of art among which one of Saint George, dating back to 1516 ,by the local painter Ludovico Brea.
The museum of the Italian Resistance is in Costa di Carpasio, it is a valid exhibition centre and preserves original documents and evidence connected to events of World War II. Among the most suggestive creations of its kind in Italy, llustrating the life and actions of the partisans during the fight for the freedom of the nation for which the province of Imperia was awarded The Medal of Honour. The visit to the museum of the Italian Resistance in Carpasio, typical hamlet of the Argentine valley is a unique occassion to observe documents, archive material and photographs which allow an impartial evaluation on what the partisan fight was really about.
